We headed off for a short break to pretty Ko Samet to wash off the city grime. We took a minibus from Victory Monument Saturday morning and drove the 4 hours southeast to Ban Phe where we boarded a speed boat to Ao Wai on Ko Samet, by lunch time we were swimming in the clear blue ocean!
This weekend was going to be pure relaxation, and we spent our days swimming in the ocean, lazing by the pool, reading and eating great food. The restaurant served up some really delicious Thai food, much of it was very spicy – but oh so yummy! I also became addicted to their Ao Wai shake, a strawberry/banana milkshake that was to die for :)

We did manage a walk along the coastline south to the next beach with a really fancy resort, their cheapest room was 4000DKK per night! Insane… At the southern tip of the island is the national park headquarter (Ko Samet is a national park, but that hasn’t stopped resort being built along all the beaches) here we enjoyed a cold drink after the hot, sweaty walk and sat looking out over the ocean.
After 3 nights on the island we very feeling rejuvenated (and we might possibly have started getting pretty bored if we had to stay any longer) and so we headed home to Bangkok, we took the slow ferry back to the mainland (100baht) and enjoyed the slow cruise along the island.
